Disability Day on the Hill is an annual, one-day event where the disability community (self-advocates, family members, care givers, professionals, and more) meet at the Capitol to share with legislators how policy impacts the lives of Tennesseans with disabilities. This is a great way to engage in advocacy with others invested in disability issues. See the many ways to get involved below. 

 

The Tennessee Disability Coalition's Community Reception

The Tennessee Disability Coalition is hosting a community reception to kick off Disability Day on the Hill 2018! Come network and enjoy drinks and hors d'oeuvres. This event is free and open to the public. RSVPs requested online at https://www.tfaforms.com/4653454 or by phone at 615-383-9442.

 

Disability Day on the Hill 2018

Wednesday, February 14 | 9 am - 2 pm CST

Cordell Hull Building, 425 5th Ave N., Nashville, TN 37243

Attendees will meet at the Cordell Hull building, the new location of the legislative offices. There is no RSVP or cost to attend. Join other disability community members as we come together to meet with out state legislators.

The State of Disability Panel

Old Supreme Court Room in the Capitol Building (This can be access from the Cordell Hull Building)

During Disability Day on the Hill, the Disability Policy Alliance will be hosting a panel on the state of disability services in Tennessee including panelists from TN Department of Education, Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Division of TennCare, Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, as well as community members. This event is free and does not require an RSVP.

 

Disability Rights Tennessee (DRT) is a nonprofit legal services organization that provides FREE services to protect the rights of Tennesseans with disabilities.
