DRT Welcomes New Legal Director
DRT is excited to announce the hiring of Susan Mee as Legal Director.
A Tennessee native from Knoxville, Susan’s career highlights her commitment to social justice and public interest work.
Susan brings a wealth of knowledge from working with the Tennessee Human Rights Commission, the University of Tennessee Office of Social Work Research and Public Services, 8 years with the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, and most recently, 4 years as Assistant General Counsel for the Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
She has advocated for individuals on issues including special education and discrimination and led system-wide improvements to benefit Tennesseans with disabilities. She understands the real-life impacts that large systems have on individuals and their families and is eager to use this knowledge to lead DRT's legal advocacy work.

Susan graduated with a B.A. from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and a J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law. She is also a Rule 31 family mediator. Aside from spending quality time with beloved friends and family, Susan stays occupied pursuing her love of photography.
